In the late afternoon you can see the gathering rain clouds in the south and west from Sante Fe. The sun tints the clouds lovely pinks and golden oranges. The view changes so quickly that you can only make a few pencil sketches and a photo as references for a painting later. This 12 x 16 was done in oil the next morning from memory.
